There are a lot of ways to save money, but not all of them include ways to have fun with your little ones while creating a cool Christmas craft. Whenever I’m budget shopping or looking for inexpensive DIY projects, I love when I can come up with an easy dollar store craft for kids like this one.
As you think about DIY projects, keep a few things in mind. Does it work better? Is it cheaper? Does the experience of doing it yourself count for something? The answer has to be yes to at least one of these questions. Otherwise, what’s the point? What I love about a dollar store craft is that it usually gets an instant checkmark in the “cheap” category.
The other great thing about the craft we’re making today is that it’s a kids craft that’s easy to do, and it gives them a feeling of accomplishment when they see their finished product. This pom pom ornament dollar store craft can even be used to teach kids about giving.
Giving From the Heart
When kids get to the age when they want to start giving gifts, they usually have to “borrow” money in order to participate. It’s really sweet when a child wants to give gifts, but they don’t truly connect with the act of giving the way that they might when they’re spending someone else’s money. That’s why I’m a big fan of kid crafts just like this one.
Your child can invest their time into the gift, and put a personal stamp on it. That gives it more significance and teaches more about what it means to give.

This dollar store craft is so simple, any child who wants to give a gift can do it. It’s a great first-time craft, and it makes a sweet little keepsake throughout the years. One tip is to take your child shopping with you so they can pick out the pom pom colors they want. Otherwise, make sure there’s plenty of variety, so they can be as creative as they’d like.
You can often find a bag of multi-colored pom poms online too. The colors in the ornament and the density of the pom poms are the two biggest ways your child can express his or her artistry. Don’t forget to date it with a red or green Sharpie or paint pen when you’re done. This would make the perfect craft for a kids’ Christmas party !
